Nine finished model conifers from the German maker HEKI, five to seven centimeters tall. The larch differs from a spruce or a fir not only in its airier crown but above all in the fact that its needles turn yellow and drop in autumn. That can be used on a model: a group of larches among spruces brings a lighter patch into an otherwise dark coniferous forest, and one that belongs there in reality.
The small trees are pushed into a prepared hole or glued by the foot of the trunk. Do not place larches singly among spruces but in clumps, as that is how they grow in reality too. Keep the spacing irregular and vary the heights. Spread the flattened branches carefully with your fingers after unpacking and leave the crown airy, as a dense cone does not belong to a larch.
For builders of layouts and dioramas with coniferous forest and for modelers building mountain landscape. The nine can be supplemented with taller and shorter larches of the same brand, and the growth then looks as though it is regenerating gradually rather than having been planted all at once. This is modeling material, not a toy. The manufacturer marks its scenery products as unsuitable for children under fifteen.
