A box with twenty finished conifers of the higher class, which the manufacturer intends for H0 and TT gauges. Nine to fourteen centimeters means a fully mature tree in the usual layout gauge. The small trees are supplied foliated.
At the forest edge, by the track and everywhere the viewer gets close. That is where the difference between a tree and a green cone shows. Taller pieces have a denser crown and a clear trunk, so they hold up even when seen from a meter away. Twenty pieces will cover the edge of a larger forest or a whole small grove by a village.
It suits layout builders who have the mass of their forest finished and need a believable foreground, as well as diorama modelers. The core of each small tree is an injection-molded plastic armature with hand-bent branches; production takes place in Germany, so individual pieces differ in shape. With trees in the foreground it pays to spend a moment on the trunk: a darker wash and drybrushing on the edges give the bark the depth a finished small tree does not have on its own. It is a good idea to stand the group up dry first and look at it from the place the viewer sees the scene from; only then fix the trees permanently. Keep the spacing irregular.
