The difference from a bulk box of identical small trees lies in the proportion of sizes. A forest always has more small trees than large ones, because tall individuals make up only part of a stand. The set respects that proportion, so no single size has to be bought separately and the resulting outline looks natural.
It suits layout builders and diorama modelers who want their forest settled in one purchase. The core of each small tree is an injection-molded plastic armature whose branches are bent and foliated by hand; production takes place in Germany. For the first plane, where a tree is looked at close up, it is worth adding a few more detailed pieces from another line. The set can also be split in two and used for two smaller groups of trees with a meadow or a field between them; the forest then gains a margin that is more interesting to look at than a continuous area.
