A set of fourteen tall small trees in a range of ten to seventeen centimeters. It is the tallest of the bulk sets in this line, so these are trees that form a landmark in a scene while there are still enough of them for a whole forest edge. They are supplied foliated, without decorations and without lighting.
They divide it into planes. The viewer first sees the trunks in the foreground, between them the track or a building, and only behind that the mass of the forest. Without tall trees a scene stays flat, because everything lies in one plane. Fourteen pieces is a good quantity for this job: too few for a continuous forest, exactly enough to frame a scene.
It suits modelers of large dioramas and layout builders who want genuinely mature trees in the foreground. The core of each small tree is an injection-molded plastic armature whose branches are bent and foliated by hand; production takes place in Germany. With trees in the foreground it pays to work up the trunk with a darker wash and drybrushing, because that is what shows most close up. Tall trees have their center of gravity high up, so fix them thoroughly, otherwise they tip over together with a piece of terrain when the module is moved. Cover the joint at the foot of the trunk with scatter or low growth.
