HEKI stone ballast, sand, medium grain 0.5 - 1.0 mm (200 g) is natural crushed aggregate for the ballast bed of track and for diorama terrain.

A loose scatter material of crushed natural stone in a sand shade from the German maker HEKI. A grain size of 0.5 to 1.0 mm corresponds to the medium grade, and the pack holds 200 g. The shade comes from the rock itself, so it is not sprayed on and once fixed it will neither wash off nor change. The medium grain is intended for model railroads in H0, TT and N gauges and for dioramas, where the aggregate should read as real ballast rather than as colored granulate.
The ballast is poured onto the base and brushed out with a soft brush into an even layer. The surface is then dampened with water and a drop of dish soap so that the grains stop repelling water, and flooded with thinned PVA glue, which soaks in between the grains and stays transparent once dry. As long as the grain is dry the shape of the bed can still be adjusted; once the glue has dried it cannot.
When working with a loose material, do not breathe in the dust and work in a ventilated space. Glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
