Heki Dur Colour paint in a sandstone shade, made for painting rock faces, masonry and other stone surfaces of a model landscape.
Responsibility details are not available.
Sandstone is a pale sedimentary rock in warm ocher and yellowish tones. It splits into horizontal beds and darkens over time in the open air, which makes it rewarding on a model: a base tone and a few shadow tones in the joints are enough for the surface to read as stone straight away. This paint delivers the sandstone shade ready-made, with no mixing of ocher and white.
It suits rock faces, cuttings, retaining and boundary walls, bridge abutments, base courses and other stone surfaces of a landscape. It also serves well wherever several parts from different suppliers have to be matched to one shade, so that rock and wall follow on from each other.
First remove the dust from the surface and let it dry. Apply the paint in thin coats and start with an overall base tone. Once that has dried, move on to a darker glaze that runs into the joints and hollows and creates shadow, and finally pass a dry brush lightly over the raised edges. It is this sequence that gives the stone depth. A heavy, uniform coat suppresses the relief instead and the surface stays flat. Vary the shade slightly across a large wall, because real rock is not the same color everywhere. Thinning and drying times are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The paint will suit diorama and layout builders who paint larger stone surfaces and need a shade they can repeat. Even a beginner can manage the procedure.
The paint alone is supplied. A brush, thinner and the parts to be painted are not included, unless stated otherwise.
