Turkish Hurricanes — Hurricanes over Anatolia 1:48 is a Tiger Head Models decal sheet for models of the Hawker Hurricane fighter in the markings of the Turkish Air Force. A model of the airplane is not part of the package.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet in 1:48 scale devoted to the Hawker Hurricane fighters in the service of the Turkish Air Force. The set is an accessory to a kit — it contains markings that turn an ordinary model into a machine of a less usual user. The model and paints are not in the package.
The Hawker Hurricane was the first British monoplane with retractable landing gear taken into front-line service, and in the first years of the war it bore the main weight of the fighting. In design it rested on an older solution: a tubular truss fuselage covered with fabric at the rear gave it resistance to hits and easy repair in field conditions. That is exactly why it became a rewarding export type as well — it entered the armament of a number of air forces outside Britain. Turkey was among the countries that, in the period around the Second World War, assembled their air force from material of various origins, and British fighters played their part in it.
On a model the Hurricane has a fairly intricate surface — suggested ribbing and the fabric covering on the rear fuselage. Decals across these places call for patience: apply them over a well cured gloss clear coat, go over them with decal softener and let them settle by themselves. Do not press them into the recesses right away, as the film is brittle at first. After the first drying, check against the light whether a bubble has been left anywhere; if so, pierce it with the tip of a scalpel and add a drop of decal softener. Finally seal the model with a clear coat and only then do the panel lines and the wear.
The package contains decals only. The kit and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
