What it is for

Masks cut to a particular kit solve two things at once: they save the time that would go into cutting tape, and they keep the shape right. A model truck has plenty of areas to cover, and one imprecisely drawn edge is enough to catch the eye on the finished piece. With ready masks the left side looks the same as the right, which is most visible on a large vehicle.

What the set contains

This is a masking set for a model of the Ural vehicle in 1:35 scale, prepared for the kit designated Trumpeter 01012. The extent of the areas covered and the number of parts are given on the packaging and in the manufacturer's instructions, where the recommended order of seating can also be found. The model, paints and an airbrush are not included.

Usage tips

Degrease the surface before applying the masks and let the base coat dry completely. Apply the masks before spraying, press the edges down and spray at right angles, in thin coats.

• seat them one at a time, step by step according to the instructions
• press the edges down with a blunt toothpick, as a finger shifts the mask
• a thin coat of the base color seals the edge of the mask
• remove the masks once the paint has dried, ideally with tweezers
• for adhesive residue use alcohol and only a brief touch with a cotton swab
