An aviation maintenance stepladder in 1:48 scale, variant two. Five steps and a height of 47 mm, which is roughly 2.3 meters in full size.
Responsibility details are not available.
Neither the pilot nor the ground crew can do without steps at an aircraft. They are used for climbing into the cockpit, for checking the upper surfaces, for topping up fluids and for work on the engine. In a scene with a model they have the added advantage of bringing in a vertical dimension: the viewer's eye climbs them to whatever is interesting on the machine, and at the same time grasps straight away how tall the aircraft really is.
This variant has five steps and a height of 47 mm. In 1:48 scale that corresponds to a stepladder standing roughly 2.3 meters tall in full size, which is the right reach for the cockpit of a fighter or for the upper part of the fuselage. The range also offers taller and shorter variants, so you can choose according to the machine the stepladder is meant to stand next to.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; on a smooth, non-absorbent surface cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) holds more reliably than polystyrene cement. Stand the assembled stepladder on a flat board and check that it sits on all of its feet. The steps and the handrails are what wears most on the real thing, so it pays to suggest chipping on them, while the lower part will take dusting in the shade of the ground. A figure of a technician placed on the second or third step adds movement to the scene and at the same time shows that the stepladder is the right height.
The package contains an accessory for a diorama. The model, figures, a base, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
