Photo-etched grilles of the engine compartment for a model of the German Panther Ausf. D tank in 1:72 scale. According to the name they are prepared for the Zvezda kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Panther Ausf. D was the first production version of the German medium tank Panther of the Second World War. The engine compartment lies at the rear of the hull and its deck is pierced by openings for drawing cooling air in and leading it away. The openings are covered from above by grilles, which are among the most striking details of the whole upper surface of the tank.
Photo-etched grilles for a model in 1:72 scale. According to the name they are cut for the Zvezda kit. A photo-etched part is incomparably thinner than a plastic one and is really cut through, so the depth under the deck stays visible beneath it. The individual parts are held on the fret only by narrow tabs.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with cutters; nipping bends a thin photo-etched part. Level the remainder of the tab with a fine file. Degrease the surface before gluing and use super glue in a minute amount, applied with the tip of a wire; a thicker gel version gives more time to settle the part. The surface under the grille is usually leveled first, so check the procedure in the manufacturer's instructions. Spray the paint in thin coats, so that the cut-through openings are not flooded, and finally bring the texture out with a dark wash.
The kit of the tank, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
