A set of unpainted figures of Canadian infantry of the First World War in 1:72 scale. The figures in this range are in soft plastic, that is, in a material on which ordinary polystyrene cement and paint do not hold without preparation. That is not a flaw but a property of the material. The set suits trench dioramas as well as a tabletop game, because in 1:72 scale a whole stretch of front can be built on the area of a table.
The Canadian Expeditionary Force fought on the Western Front from 1915 and became famous above all for taking Vimy Ridge in 1917, where all four Canadian divisions attacked together for the first time. The soldiers wore British equipment and helmets, so they differ from British infantry mainly in badges and details. For painting that means the figures can be used across the units of the Commonwealth.
First wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry out completely. Then apply a primer intended for soft plastics, or the paint will crack and flake off once dry. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), not with polystyrene cement. Bring the khaki uniforms to life by varying the shade slightly between the soldiers; a uniform surface looks artificial.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
