A sampler set in 1:72 scale that brings figures from the Italian First World War range together in one package. It is a way of trying out how the maker has rendered Italian soldiers without having to buy complete sets of the individual types. The figures are in soft plastic, on which ordinary polystyrene cement and paint do not hold without preparation. That is not a flaw but a property of the material.
In the First World War the Italian army fought mainly in mountain terrain along the Isonzo River and in the Alps. Conditions there were harsher than on the Western Front: positions had to be taken uphill, supplies were carried up by hand and in winter avalanches killed more men than gunfire. The maker's Italian range covers line infantry, heavy weapons, artillery and assault troops, so a whole force can be built from it.
First wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry out completely. Then apply a primer intended for soft plastics, or the paint will crack once dry. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Vary the gray-green shade of the Italian uniform slightly between the soldiers; a uniform surface in a single tone looks artificial.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
