1:32 French Light Infantry Chasseurs (18 figures)

HäT 1:32 - chasseurs of the French light infantry

A set of eighteen unpainted figures of French light infantry in 1:32 scale. The chasseurs made up the center companies of a light battalion, that is, its main strength. The large scale gives a figure room for painting work that cannot be managed in 1:72. The figures are in soft plastic, on which ordinary polystyrene cement and paint do not hold without preparation.

The real subject

French light infantry differed from the line in the way it was used: it fought in a loose formation ahead of the main line, harassed the enemy with fire and covered the advance of the columns. A battalion was divided into chasseur, voltigeur and carabinier companies. The uniform was blue throughout, including the trousers, which told it apart at a glance from the line infantry in white trousers.

Building and painting tips

First wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry out completely. Then apply a primer intended for soft plastics. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). An all-blue uniform is demanding on legibility, so grade the shades between the coat and the trousers and bring out the edges with a lighter blue.

Who the figures are for

• For collectors of the Napoleonic period in a large scale.
• For painters who want a figure with room for detail.
