An injection-molded plastic kit of the road racing motorcycle Suzuki RGV-Gamma (factory designation XR89) in 1:12 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya. The model has a faithfully broken-down frame and engine and a one-piece upper cover made with slide-mold tooling; the fairing and the tank can be taken off even after assembly to reveal the mechanics inside. Check the actual contents of the box against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Suzuki RGV-Gamma XR89 was a factory racing machine of the 500 cc class of the road racing world championship of the late 1990s. It was powered by a two-stroke V4 engine and was made famous in the saddle by the rider Kenny Roberts Jr. It was a typical representative of the era of the sharp two-stroke 500s, the top category of road racing before the arrival of the four-stroke MotoGP machines.
First assemble and paint the frame and the engine, and only then the fairing. Treat the painted surfaces with primer and lay the color on with an airbrush; apply the sponsor decals over a gloss base and cover them with a clear coat. Leave the chrome and metallic-looking parts glossy and bring out the chain and the mechanics with a light wash. Do not paint the rubber tires.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
