A kit of the modern American strategic bomber B-21 Raider in 1:144 scale. The model belongs to the group of subjects that AMP pursues consistently - new types and machines that as yet have no established place among models. The exact contents of the package, the number of parts and the extent of the decal schemes are not stated here; check them on the package and in the instructions.
The B-21 Raider is an aircraft laid out as a flying wing, that is without a conventional fuselage and without vertical tail surfaces. The whole structure is subordinated to reducing radar reflectivity: the edges run in only a few directions and are mutually parallel, the transitions between surfaces are smooth, the air intakes are recessed into the upper side of the wing and the exhausts are shielded. Control is provided by surfaces on the trailing edge, because the machine has no fin. A number of technical details about the aircraft have not been published, so a model necessarily relies on the published shapes and released photographs. For a display case it brings a very clean, almost sculptural piece that differs from other aircraft at first sight.
A flying wing is simple to build but merciless to the surface - on one large continuous area every seam and every sanding mark shows. Fill and sand the joints gradually with several grits and, before painting, light the surface from a sharp side angle. Apply a thin primer that evens out the shade of the base, otherwise differences in material will show through in the final gray. Single-color dark schemes look more realistic when a subtle modulation is brought into them: lighten the base tone slightly in the middle of the panels and leave the edges darker. Do not emphasize the engraved lines strongly on this type of aircraft; a pronounced wash would look out of place - a very thin glaze is better. Choose a satin rather than a fully matte final varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
