Firma49 1:16 British Mk III Turtle helmet – detail is the finer variant of the resin set of the British helmet of the Second World War. It is an accessory for figures and dioramas, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set from the Czech manufacturer Firma49 in 1:16 scale, made as the detail variant of the British Mk III helmet nicknamed the Turtle. Compared with the basic version it puts the emphasis on a more worked-out surface and on the details of the helmet. It is not a kit but an accessory in its own right for dressing figures, busts and dioramas. Working with resin assumes experience.
The British Army introduced the Mk III helmet from the end of 1943. Its deeper shape protected the neck and the back of the head better than the earlier Mk II. It was first worn in larger numbers by British and Canadian soldiers during the Normandy landings in 1944 and served until the end of the war. The nickname Turtle came from its resemblance to a turtle shell.
Wash the castings free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and clean them up (with respiratory protection). Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). After the primer, paint them in flat khaki to olive green; the finer detail of this version comes out well once a wash and a light dry brush have been applied.
The accessory is supplied as unpainted resin castings. Glue, paints and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
