A sizable injection-molded plastic model of the AV-8B Harrier II attack aircraft from Hobby Boss in the large 1:18 scale. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is a large and more demanding plastic kit with rich detail, metal parts and rubber tires. Thanks to the 1:18 scale the finished model is markedly bigger than ordinary aircraft kits. For the exact contents of the package go by the enclosed instructions and the markings on the box.
The AV-8B Harrier II is an attack aircraft capable of vertical and short takeoff and landing (V/STOL) thanks to its swiveling vectored-thrust nozzles. It came about as a thorough reworking of the original Harrier for the United States Marine Corps, with a new wing, better equipment and a greater combat load. It operates from small aircraft carriers and amphibious ships and serves for close air support of ground troops.
At a large scale, work in sections: finish and spray the cockpit, the wheel bays and the intakes before you close the fuselage. Glue with thin cement for plastic and fit the metal parts and the tires with super glue. Large surfaces are better painted with an airbrush over a primer; because of the size, count on a firm stand and enough room in a display case.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
