About product

Landing flaps for the Boeing 777-200/300 in 1:200 scale

This item is not a kit of an airplane but a resin accessory. It contains castings of the wing high-lift devices of the Boeing 777, which replace the original plastic parts of a kit in 1:200 scale so that the model can be built with the landing flaps extended. It is the flaps in landing configuration that turn a model of an airliner into a living scene rather than just a silhouette on a stand.

What the set solves

Kits of airliners in 1:200 tend to have the wing cast in one piece and the high-lift devices only suggested by engraving. The resin casting, in contrast, carries separate segments with their own profile, with a leading and a trailing edge and with the supports between flap and wing. A model of the 777 has a span of roughly thirty centimeters in this scale, so the individual parts are tiny and the sharpness of the mold decides - with resin it tends to be finer than with injection-molded plastic.

Building and painting tips

First wash the parts in warm water with detergent, so that the mold release agent is removed, because otherwise paint will not hold on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife and level the surface with sandpaper - when sanding resin, sand wet and protect your breathing. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; ordinary modeling cement for polystyrene does not dissolve resin. Apply primer before spraying. On airliners the inner surfaces of the high-lift devices are usually treated differently from the underside of the wing, so check the references for the particular aircraft.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of civil airliners in small scales
  • Modelers who want an aircraft in landing configuration
  • More experienced builders who have already worked with resin
  • Collectors whose model stands on its own in a display case, where detail stands out

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

No. It is an accessory resin set that replaces the wing parts of a plastic Boeing 777 kit in 1:200 scale. The kit itself has to be bought separately.

Cyanoacrylate super glue. Ordinary cement for polystyrene does not dissolve resin, so the joint would not hold.

Yes. Wash them in warm water with detergent because of residue of mold release agent and use primer, otherwise the paint peels off.

The set is rather for more experienced builders. It calls for cutting off the casting blocks, sanding and seating tiny parts into the wing precisely.
