Unlike the kit on its own, the set also contains basic paints, a brush and glue, so it serves as a complete gift even for a beginning modeler. Thanks to its tall masts the finished model makes a striking display piece.
HMS Victory was a first-rate hundred-gun ship of the line of the Royal Navy and became famous as the flagship of Admiral Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. That decisive naval engagement of the Napoleonic Wars confirmed British command of the sea. The ship survives to this day and is among the best-known sailing ships in history.
With a sailing ship, start from the hull and the decks and only then fit the masts and the yards. Glue the plastic with liquid cement. The rigging calls for patience, and it pays to string it only after the main parts are painted. The wooden surfaces come out best after a base coat and subtle accenting of the plank pattern. Use the stand supplied for stable display.
The model is supplied unassembled. According to the manufacturer the gift set contains basic paints, a brush and glue; further modeling supplies are useful to finish it.
