Photo-etched set for the Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. L Luchs 1:35 from Royal Model: detail parts for the Tasca kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched metal parts for a model of the German Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. L light reconnaissance tank, nicknamed Luchs, in 1:35 scale. The manufacturer intends it for the kit from Tasca, which with a photo-etched set is an essential piece of information, because the parts are cut for particular shapes. Photo-etch deals with what injection-molded plastic cannot manage: the real thickness of sheet metal on grilles, fenders, brackets and covers.
The Luchs was a German light tank intended for reconnaissance, that is for a task where speed, range and communications count rather than armor. It came about as the last development of the Pz.Kpfw. II line of light tanks and had a wider hull, interleaved road wheels and a crew supplemented by a radio operator. Only a few hundred were built, so it is among the less common types that prompt a question at a show.
Nip the photo-etched parts from the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface, not with pliers. Make the bends over a bending tool or over a razor blade; the sheet bends in one pull, and repeated bending breaks it. They are glued with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate, and with a minimum quantity. Degrease the metal before painting and apply a primer, otherwise paint will not hold on the smooth sheet and will rub off during handling. On the fenders it pays to suggest bends and dents, which look faithful on a reconnaissance vehicle.
The set is an accessory, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
