An injection-molded plastic kit of the German D8506 farm tractor in the version with a protective roof, in 1:24 scale. The model belongs to a complete range of tractors that the manufacturer builds in this scale on a common structure and distinguishes by individual forms, from farm and industrial to haulage. The larger 1:24 scale lets the small elements come out that are lost in the more usual 1:35, above all the driver's station, the steering and the drive train.
Tractors of the D8506 series belong to the family of German single-cylinder machines known as the Bulldog, which were produced from the 1920s and stayed in service in farming for decades. They are characterized by a slow-running single-cylinder hot-bulb engine, a heavy flywheel and a simple structure that was easy to repair. That is exactly why they were counted on not only in the field but also for haulage, towing trailers and work around yards. The version with a protective roof over the driver represents a practical adaptation for work in bad weather.
Work from the bottom up: the drive train and the frame first, and only then the panels and the driver's station, otherwise you will not reach some of the joints later. For the plastic use a thin glue applied into the seam with a brush. Apply a thin primer before painting, as the shades of farm machinery hold poorly on bare plastic. A tractor is a rewarding subject for weathering, because it was almost never clean: a worn edge on the fenders, dust in the corners, greasy marks around the engine and mud on the wheels, applied only to a dried finish, all pay off. On the version with a roof do not forget the shadows underneath it, otherwise the model looks flat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
