This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from the manufacturer Italeri captures the Mercedes-Benz Actros MP4 tractor unit with the luxurious high Gigaspace cab. The model has a detailed chassis and a well worked-out cab interior, the parts are molded in black, white, gray and clear, and decals and an illustrated instruction sheet complete the package. It is the tractor unit alone (without a semitrailer), so it is a rewarding basis both for the build itself and for combining with a semitrailer later.
The new Actros, presented in 2012, brought a modern design and engines meeting the Euro 5 and Euro 6 emission standards. The Gigaspace version is a long-haul cab with a flat floor and a high roof, designed for maximum comfort for a crew of two on long routes. It is among the flagships of European long-haul tractor units.
The large cab is an ideal surface for a quality finish: work through a primer and finish with a gloss clear coat if you want the typical shine of a tractor unit. Paint and assemble the cab interior and the chassis before they are closed up. A number of trims, handles and details are chrome-plated parts, so remove the chrome at the point of the joint first, so that it holds. Fit the glazing at the end so that it does not fog up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
