About product

Subaru TT2 Sambar Fire Engine 1:24 (Aoshima)

An injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese maker Aoshima in 1:24 scale. The subject is a small fire vehicle (a kei truck) built on the Subaru Sambar utility van of the TT2 generation. The model is supplied as a set of parts to be assembled and painted, and it captures the characteristic proportions of the little Japanese truck as well as the fire body.

The real subject

The Subaru Sambar is a Japanese kei-class microvan, known for its rear engine position and independent suspension on all wheels. In the fire service version it served local units and rescue services for reaching narrow streets that ordinary vehicles cannot enter. The TT2 version was the newer form of this small but practically irreplaceable van.

Building and painting tips

Glue the parts with thin liquid cement for plastic and sand the joints before painting. For the typical signal red of the fire body, a gloss base and an airbrush work well; pick out the small fittings and the beacons by hand. Fit the glazing at the very end with super glue, which does not fog clear plastic.

Who the model is for

  • For fans of Japanese kei vehicles and rescue vehicles.
  • For modelers with experience of car kits in 1:24.
  • For collectors of unusual small utility vehicles.

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
