This is not a model but a Quinta Studio interior detail set intended for building the Toyota Supra A80 kit in 1:24 scale from Tamiya. It brings an already pre-colored dashboard, door panels, the console and further elements of the cabin, completed by adhesive-backed metal (stainless steel) details. You have to have the base Supra kit separately, as the set is cut exactly to the Tamiya parts and will not fit another kit.

How the Quinta 3D interior works

It is a solution that sits between a flat decal and photo-etch. The parts are 3D-printed and colored from the factory, and they sit on a decal backing paper. You cut the part from the sheet, dip it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the paper into place; it has real three-dimensional 3D relief, so the instruments, the dials and the texture of the upholstery look deep and photorealistic with no need for painting. The parts have no adhesive of their own and hold on a surface coated with gloss varnish. The metal parts supplied with them add a metallic sheen where neither plastic nor paint is enough.

The real subject

The Toyota Supra A80 (the fourth generation, 1993 to 2002) is a cult Japanese sports coupe with the inline-six 2JZ engine, which became a star of films and games and the dream car of a whole generation of tuning enthusiasts. The JDM-spec designation means the Japanese domestic version: right-hand drive and a dashboard with the Japanese layout. Anyone building the Japanese Supra needs an interior with the steering wheel on the right.

Use and compatibility

• Intended exclusively for the Toyota Supra A80 kit from Tamiya in 1:24 scale.
• Coat the place it is to sit with gloss varnish beforehand (Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22); on a matte base the part will not hold.
• Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution, as the chemicals would damage the printed resin layer; on a broken-up surface a drop of cyanoacrylate glue helps.
• The adhesive-backed metal parts are lifted off and pressed onto the places marked for them.
