An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Cessna O-2A Skymaster observation and liaison airplane in 1:32 scale, in the guise it wore in service with the US Navy. The model comes from the Ukrainian maker Roden and at this large scale offers a richly broken-down surface and interior. The package contains plastic sprues including clear parts, decals and instructions. The finished model is roughly 28 cm long.
The Cessna O-2 Skymaster was a military twin-engine airplane derived from the civil Cessna Model 337, with an interesting arrangement of the engines in tandem, one at the front and one at the back (the push-pull layout), and with a pair of tail booms. It came about as the successor to an older observation airplane and was used above all for forward air control, reconnaissance and liaison duties. Its good endurance and the view from the cabin proved themselves in the observation role.
The large scale rewards careful work on the cabin, which can be seen through the glazing, so paint it and complete it before closing the fuselage. Mask the glazing and clear-coat it carefully. Bond the plastic with liquid modeling cement and sand the seams. Apply a primer before painting; choose the matching naval scheme according to the markings you have picked. Lay the decals on a gloss coat and finally even out the surface with a matte or semi-gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
