Masking templates for spraying the markings onto a model of the de Havilland DH.82A Tiger Moth biplane in 1:32 scale, intended for the ICM kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The de Havilland DH.82A Tiger Moth is a British training biplane of the thirties on which whole generations of pilots went through their training. It has fabric-covered construction, open cockpits and fixed landing gear. It is precisely the fabric-covered surfaces with their visible ribs that are the place where a decal often causes trouble: the film will not settle over the raised structure and the edge stays visible.
The set contains cut masking templates for spraying the markings, that is, an alternative to decals. The markings are sprayed directly in paint, so no carrier film stays on the surface and the artwork sits even on a busy surface. The manufacturer intended the set for the ICM kit in 1:32 scale. The exact list of subjects is given on the packaging.
Apply the masks only over paint that has fully cured; on a fresh finish the base will come away with them when they are removed. Wash and degrease the area beforehand first. Seat the template with tweezers, press the edges down with a toothpick and apply the paint in several thin coats; a heavy coat will push under the edge and the line will bleed. With multi-color markings you spray step by step, and the order of the shades is given in the instructions of the manufacturer. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried and even the area out with a clear coat at the end.
The kit and the paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
