A large injection-molded plastic kit of the British twin-engine de Havilland Mosquito bomber in the large 1:32 scale from HK Models, in the Mk.IX and Mk.XVI bomber versions. It is a large and richly broken-down kit to be glued and painted, with a finely engraved surface and a number of movable or optional parts. Given its size and the number of parts, it is a flagship kit for demanding modelers.
The Mosquito was the famous British multirole aircraft with a largely wooden structure, nicknamed the Wooden Wonder. The bomber versions were fast and unarmed, relying on performance and altitude. The Mk.IX variant was among the first machines adapted for demanding long-range raids, while the Mk.XVI was given a pressurized cabin allowing operations at greater altitudes. Both types carried a heavy bomb load and were powered by Rolls-Royce Merlin engines.
On a large kit, plan the sequence and the painting of the interior in advance — finish the cockpit and the bomb bay before you close up the fuselage. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement, and fill and sand the long seams carefully. Apply the camouflage with an airbrush, the decals onto a gloss varnish, and unify the whole with a final varnish and restrained weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
