Exhaust nozzles for the Phantom II, 1:32

An add-on set of engine exhaust nozzles for a model of the F-4 Phantom II in the B, C, D and N versions, in 1:32 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a replacement part. The nozzles are among the most exposed places on a model, because everyone who walks around the display case from behind looks at them, and the plastic part from a kit is usually thick and without any internal structure.

What it is for

• Replacing the plastic nozzles with a part with a thin wall and internal structure.

Building and painting tips

Separate the parts from the carriers with a sharp blade or a fine saw and sand the cut face. The material is hard and brittle, so work without pressure and protect your airways while sanding. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Phantom nozzles were burnt into metallic and brownish tones, which is best built up by layering dark metallic shades with a fine pigment at the end.
