This resin set from the Czech maker CMK represents the MA-1A ground starting cart of the kind used by the US Air Force. The set combines resin parts with photo-etched sheet and a decal sheet. It is not an aircraft model but a piece of airfield ground equipment that brings any aviation scene or diorama to life.
The MA-1A, nicknamed the Huffer, was a mobile source of compressed air with an auxiliary jet unit. It supplied pressurized air to spin up and start the engines of jet aircraft that had no starter of their own, such as the T-33 or the T-38, and it was in service from the 1950s. It was standard equipment at American air bases.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue. Bend the photo-etched parts over an edge. Ground equipment takes pronounced weathering well, with dark washes in the recesses and pigments for deposits of dust, oil and fuel. The color schemes are given on the enclosed decal sheet.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
