Eduard – photo-etched landing gear set 1:32 for the Macchi MC.200 Saetta (Italeri)

A detailed photo-etched Eduard set in 1:32 scale aimed at the landing gear of the Macchi MC.200 Saetta model from Italeri. Note, it is not an aircraft model but an accessory – the kit is not included in the package. The set contains thin etched metal parts with which you replace or complete the plastic parts of the kit where, for reasons of production, the plastic is too heavy. It is precisely the landing gear legs, their surroundings and the landing gear bays that in a large scale are among the places that are clearly visible and where the fineness of metal pays off most.

Use

• Cut the parts from the fret with sharp photo-etch nippers or a scalpel on a hard surface; do not break them out.
• Degrease the metal before gluing; make the bends in a photo-etch bender or between two blades so the edges are sharp.
• Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or epoxy – cement for plastic does not hold on metal.
• Use a primer before applying paint, otherwise paint holds poorly on smooth metal.
• Follow the instructions supplied and carefully sand away on the plastic the parts of the model that the photo-etch replaces.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build the Saetta in the large 1:32 scale from Italeri and want to take the detail of the exposed landing gear beyond an out-of-box build. The Macchi MC.200 Saetta was an Italian fighter from the design office of Mario Castoldi with a radial engine, which served with the Regia Aeronautica from the late 1930s and fought in the Mediterranean, in North Africa and on the Eastern Front. Working with photo-etch calls for a little patience and some basic equipment, so we recommend the set rather to more advanced builders.
