This plastic set of figures in 1:32 scale depicts soldiers of the famous Old Guard of Napoleon's army. The figures are worked with great artistic care and look more like collector's miniatures than ordinary kit figures. The set goes together excellently with other figures from the same manufacturer's Napoleonic range.
The Old Guard was the most prestigious and most experienced formation of the French army during the Napoleonic Wars. Only seasoned veterans with long service in the field made it into its ranks, and the unit became a symbol of courage and discipline. The characteristic bearskin caps and parade uniforms make these soldiers a rewarding subject for painting.
Separate the figures carefully from the sprues and clean up the parting lines. Glue them with cement for plastic. Paint the uniforms in layers, highlighting the raised areas and shading the folds. Faces and small details call for a fine brush, but the result rewards you with a convincing expression on the figures. At the end, tie the figures together with restrained weathering and a matte varnish, which subdues any sheen of the paints and gives the uniforms a realistic textile look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
