The P-51D Mustang was an American single-seat fighter of the Second World War. The D version is the best known and the easiest to recognize: it has a cut-down fuselage spine and a teardrop canopy, which gave the pilot a view in every direction. It is precisely that large glazed canopy that is the reason why a thoroughly detailed cockpit pays off on a model of the Mustang, because a great deal of it is visible.
A set of colored three-dimensional elements for the cockpit of a model in 1:32 scale. The elements are laid onto the cockpit parts and take the place of laboriously painting small details in, that is the scales, the placards and the division of the panels. According to the product name the set is cut for the Tamiya kit, so the shape of the parts matches that one. The exact extent of the set and the placement of the individual elements are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
First paint the cockpit parts with the base color and let it dry perfectly; the surface has to be clean, smooth and free of grease, otherwise the elements will not bed down. Separate them and move them with tweezers or a dampened pointed brush, settle them one at a time and press them down lightly. Before applying them, check in the instructions whether the elements are self-adhesive: the method of application differs from range to range, so do not use water or a decal softener on them without checking the instructions.
For the builder who wants a thoroughly worked cockpit in the Mustang but does not want to brush the whole of it in. The work calls for good light, tweezers and patience rather than for years of experience. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the box, unless stated otherwise.
