Injection-molded plastic model of the German single-seat Pfalz D.III fighter biplane in 1:32 scale from Roden. The kit offers a finely engraved surface, a detailed cockpit and separately molded control surfaces; as with every biplane, the build includes the bracing wires between the wings and the struts.
The Pfalz D.III was a German First World War fighter with a characteristically smooth, strong fuselage built from plywood shells. Armed with a pair of synchronized machine guns, it was a solid and durable machine that proved itself especially in the dive and in attacks on observation balloons. Compared with the contemporary Albatros types it was valued for the strength of its structure.
On a biplane, assemble and paint the cockpit before you close up the fuselage - once it is glued it is harder to reach. Clean the delicate struts and braces up carefully. Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic, then fill and sand the joints. Lay down a primer before painting and spray the colors with an airbrush in thin coats. Do the rigging only after painting, using elastic thread; the smooth fuselage will reward careful sanding of the seams.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
