This small, precisely made accessory from the British firm Airscale represents the US Navy Mk III telescopic (tube) gunsight in 1:32 scale. It is intended for detailing the cockpit of the TBD Devastator carrier-borne aircraft, where this gunsight served the pilot for aiming. It is not a model of the aircraft but a stand-alone detail part.
Telescopic gunsights were common on US Navy carrier-borne aircraft at the beginning of the Second World War. The Mk III type was a tube optical sight passing through the windshield of the cockpit, which allowed the pilot to aim in an attack.
Clean the part, glue it with super glue and paint it in metallic shades with careful picking out. The optics can be suggested with a drop of clear varnish. Working under a magnifier and with tweezers is recommended.
