A set of 1:32 decals for the Vought F4U-1D Corsair with three aircraft of squadron VF-84 from the deck of USS Bunker Hill in 1945; a mask for the canopy is enclosed as well.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Vought F4U-1D came about as a more versatile form of the fighter with its characteristic gull wing. Against the earlier series it had a cleaner canopy with a markedly better view, racks under the center fuselage for bombs or drop tanks, and mountings for unguided rockets. Thanks to that it could, in the closing stages of the war in the Pacific, work over a ground target and return at once to classic fighter duty.
The three aircraft offered carry the white numbers 110, 167 and 155 and all served with squadron VF-84 on the aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill in 1945. Their distinguishing feature is the striking white arrow on the vertical tail and on the wing, drawn across the overall dark blue finish. In that period the ship supported the landing on Iwo Jima and the subsequent fighting for Okinawa.
A dark blue base is demanding for white motifs, so the sheet prints an opaque white layer. Once the finish has dried perfectly, coat the area with gloss varnish, release the decal in lukewarm water and settle it with as little water under the film as possible. On the rounded transitions at the wing root use a decal softener and let everything dry without touching it. Neither a kit nor paints are in this item. If you want to weather the aircraft, wait with pigments until a day after finishing, so that the film does not move under them.
