3D-printed weighted wheels for the JLTV (1:35, Rye Field Model)

A set of add-on 3D-printed wheels in 1:35 scale from Rye Field Model. It is not a vehicle model but a set of replacement wheels with a weighted tire profile that replace the wheels of the base JLTV kit. The flattening at the contact patch realistically imitates the deformation of a tire under the weight of the vehicle and gives a finished model a more convincing stance on the ground.

What the set is for

• Replacing the wheels on a JLTV model in 1:35 scale (the Rye Field Model range)
• A realistic weighted flattening of the tires on a standing vehicle
• Higher detail of the tread and sidewall than the standard parts
• An easy improvement with no need to rework the rest of the kit

Building and painting tips

First wash the print resin residue off the 3D-printed parts and cut them carefully off the print supports. Bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before painting, then spray the tires in a dark rubber color and set the wheel rims apart; finally add dust and mud with pigments at the contact patch. Set the wheels so that the flattening points down toward the base.

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is meant for another model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
