The 88 (8.8 cm Flak) was originally an antiaircraft gun, but it became famous above all in the antitank role. The version on an improvised mounting (Behelfslafette) was created so that the gun could deliver direct fire at ground targets quickly and with a low silhouette, without the lengthy business of setting up the standard cruciform carriage. Its high muzzle velocity made the 88 a feared tank killer on every front.
Finish and paint the assembly of the mounting and the breech before you attach the shield and the surrounding parts. On this kit the barrel and the moving mechanisms can be kept working, so proceed carefully. After the base coat with an airbrush, bring out the rivets and the details with a wash and add dust and mud pigments to the lower part of the mounting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
