An injection-molded plastic kit of the Avro Cierva C.30A autogyro in the unusual aviation scale of 1:35 from the manufacturer MiniArt, executed in civil form. The kit is richly broken down, holds photo-etched parts, clear glazing and openable cabin doors; the decals cover several machines. The fineness of the molding matches the habits of the manufacturer.
The Cierva C.30A is an autogyro, not a helicopter. Its lifting surface is formed by a freely turning rotor above the fuselage, which spins of its own accord under the oncoming airflow (autorotation), while the thrust is provided by a conventional propeller at the front. The machine was designed by Juan de la Cierva and built under license by the British company Avro. In the 1930s it was among the most widespread autogyros and it flew in civil and in other service. The rotor and its mounting are exactly what is visually crucial.
The rotor head and the rotor blades are the most exposed part; assemble them carefully and watch the symmetry of the blades. Glue the photo-etched parts with super glue and the plastic with thin modeling cement. Protect the glazing with a mask. Apply a primer before painting; civil schemes tend to be more colorful than military ones, so an airbrush and masking of the color fields pay off.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
