Responsibility details are not available.
This is a turned metal barrel of the 12.7 mm DShK heavy machine gun in its postwar form, in 1:35 scale, from Aber. It is not a vehicle model but a detail accessory that replaces the plastic part from the box with a precise metal substitute. It is intended for models of the T-54 and T-55 tanks and of the BTR-60 armored personnel carrier, where the DShK served as an anti-aircraft and support machine gun.
The DShK is a Soviet 12.7 mm heavy machine gun from the design office of Degtyarev and Shpagin, introduced in the late 1930s. After the war it was modernized, and in that form it appeared on the roofs of tank turrets and on the mounts of armored personnel carriers as a defense against low-flying targets as well as ground targets. The postwar version differs from the wartime one in the treatment of the muzzle and of the cooling jacket.
The turned barrel has the correct wall thickness and bore, so drilling and cleaning up are unnecessary. Separate the part carefully from the casting stub, degrease it and bond it with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Coat the metal surface with a primer before painting for better adhesion.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
