1:35 British 25prd Ammo Box (for Staghound APC)

Ammunition boxes for the British 25-pounder 1:35 (Bronco)

A plastic set in 1:35 scale in the form of ammunition boxes for the British 25-pounder field gun. It is not a model of a vehicle or of a gun, but an accessory and a load for vehicles. The boxes serve to complete the cargo and stowage on the Staghound armored car convincingly, or on other British and Allied vehicles and in dioramas. Loaded boxes, transport crates and other small items of baggage bring otherwise bare areas of a vehicle markedly to life and give a scene a story and a sense of scale. The parts are injection-molded in plastic, so they are glued and reworked just as easily as an ordinary kit.

The real subject

The Ordnance QF 25-pounder was a British gun-howitzer, the standard artillery weapon of British and Allied units in the Second World War and long afterwards. Its ammunition was transported and stored in sturdy boxes of the kind this set reproduces. The Staghound was a heavy armored reconnaissance car used in British service.

Building and painting tips

• Cut the parts from the sprues and clean them up, gluing with liquid cement for plastic.
• Apply a suitable primer before painting.
• Shade the boxes, add lettering or decals and bring out the edges with a dry brush.
• Washes and pigments give the wood and the metal a worn, dusty look.

Who the set is for

• For modelers of British and Allied vehicles in 1:35 scale.
• For builders of the Staghound armored car who want a convincing load.
• For diorama builders collecting accessories and stowage.

This is an accessory plastic set, not a complete vehicle model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
