Buckles and retainers for German tanks 1:35 – a universal Royal Model photo-etched set for the securing straps, tarpaulins and pioneer tools on the hull.
Responsibility details are not available.
On a real vehicle the tarpaulins, spare track links and crates are held by dozens of small clips, buckles and stops. These are exactly what plastic kits either lack or only suggest. This universal photo-etched set from Royal Model supplies such details in the form of thin metal pieces usable on most German vehicles of the Second World War, regardless of who made the basic model.
A look at period photographs shows that the silhouette of a tank is made up not only of armor but mainly of what the crew hung on top of it. Straps with buckles held the camouflage tarpaulin down, stops secured the pioneer tools, clips tied down coiled cables. Added to a model, they break up the smooth surfaces, give the hull life and convincingly connect the vehicle with the crew's equipment. What is left of the fret also stays available for another build, because nothing here is tied to a single type of machine.
Cut the small tabs off on a hard surface with a sharp scalpel and bend them with flat-jawed tweezers. The loops can be imitated with a strip of kitchen foil or thin paper drawn through the buckle, which looks better than stiff metal. Apply the glue with a pin in minimal drops, so that it does not fill the shape.
The package contains only the metal parts; you will not find a kit, glue or finishes in it.
