The ruins of a stone castle structure in 1:35: the Castle ruin from the diorama range of Royal Model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The ruins of an old stone structure, prepared as a striking backdrop in 1:35. Into a tableau it brings something ordinary town houses cannot: the contrast between a centuries-old structure and the twentieth-century equipment standing at its foot. The height of the masonry, moreover, makes it possible to lay a scene out on two levels, which benefits a display case.
Old fortified structures usually stood on heights and commanded the roads below them, which is why they were fought over in the twentieth century as well. In Italy, in the Balkans and in central Europe they served as observation posts and artillery targets, and many of them turned into a heap of ashlar blocks. The ruin of a rampart therefore suits modern tableaux too. Massive masonry withstood gunfire better than brick buildings, so infantry dug in behind it.
Old masonry differs from urban masonry in its irregularity: the blocks have different shades, so never paint the surface in a single color. Try layering glazes and drawing the joints out between them with a darker tone. Add moss and lichen on the north side, set small greenery into the crevices and leave a hint of self-seeded grass on the crown of the wall. Mix the rubble below the wall from fragments of various sizes.
You receive the backdrop without a surface finish; the moss, the grass and the patina you apply to it only while building the tableau.
