The transitional KV-85 heavy tank in 1:35 scale gains, with this photo-etched set, metal grilles over the cooling openings at the rear.
Responsibility details are not available.
In model form the transitional KV-85 heavy tank suffers from the same failing as its predecessors: the engine deck has mere relief instead of mesh. The set offers a metal replacement that is set over the cooling openings and gives the rear its transparency. It is a targeted accessory for a single type, not a universal sheet of material sold by the meter.
In the autumn of 1943 the Red Army needed a machine quickly that could hit German armored targets at greater range. The designers therefore took the lightened hull of the KV-1S and set on it a cast turret developed for the coming IS series, with an 85 mm gun. The result was built only briefly and in a small batch, which makes it all the more interesting in a collection among more common types.
Hold the metal parts with flat-jawed tweezers, as pointed ones will bend them. Once the grille is glued on, weigh it down only lightly so that it does not bulge. A thin brown wash will run into the holes and emphasize their edges, and the excess is drawn off with a dry brush. Matte varnish at the end suits, as it unifies the metal with the plastic. The difference between the two materials shows most in sharp side light.
The kit of the vehicle has to be obtained separately.
