1:35 Focke-Wulf Triebflügel Nachtjäger: a MiniArt plastic kit capturing the hypothetical night fighter form of the German vertical take-off aircraft project that was never built.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit from MiniArt in 1:35 scale renders one of the most bizarre German aircraft projects of the Second World War, the vertical take-off Triebflügel fighter, in a hypothetical night fighter form. It is a kit of the what if category: the subject existed only on the drawing board and the kit imagines how it might have looked in combat use.
The Triebflügel was a Focke-Wulf concept of 1944. The aircraft had no conventional wings: three rotating lifting surfaces with power units at their tips turned around the fuselage, which was to let it take off and land vertically on its tail, with no need for an airfield. The project never got beyond the study stage and no prototype was built. The night fighter variant is a modeler's fantasy built on that concept.
The build goes like any ordinary plastic kit: a thin cement for plastic, dry-fitting of the subassemblies and thin coats of paint. With the unusual shape of the fuselage, take care over cleaning up the lengthwise joints. There are no limits on the camouflage: with a what if subject you can work from period German night fighter schemes or choose a rendering of your own. A gloss varnish under the decals and a final matte varnish will unify the work.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
