French concrete road signs in 1:35 scale are a MiniArt diorama accessory for scenes from northern and eastern France.
Responsibility details are not available.
A MiniArt diorama accessory representing the concrete road and direction signs used in France in the 1930s and 1940s. The set relates to the area of northern and eastern France, as the name states. It is not a vehicle kit but equipment for a scene: an element that gives a diorama a local character and a story that can be read.
Road signage is one of the few things that tells the viewer at once where a scene takes place. Concrete posts with inset lettering are typical of the French countryside of that time and set a scene apart from a similar one in another country. They are also a rewarding vertical element: they balance the low silhouette of the hardware and help to lay the base out so that the eye has somewhere to rest.
Concrete does not look believable as a plain gray surface. Start from a light gray-beige base, add irregular patches and dirty the lower part of the post with a darker shade, as if it were splashed from the road. Pick the lettering out with a thin brush and wipe the excess away, so that the writing looks traced rather than stuck on. Set the foot of the post into the terrain and surround it with modeling paste or grass material.
