The Holidaymakers set from the Ukrainian manufacturer MiniArt belongs to the popular line of civilian miniatures in 1:35 scale. This time the subject is holidaymakers - figures in summer clothing of the kind you meet by the water, on a promenade or at a campsite. The figures come as unpainted plastic castings, so you decide their final look by the color scheme you choose.
Equipment only tells a story once people live around it. Holidaymakers suit calm scenes: a waterfront, a beach, a parking area by a road, a city park or a railroad platform. They go beautifully with civilian cars and with buildings from the manufacturer's diorama range, and they open the way to subjects less usual than a battlefield. They also work as an interesting counterpoint to military equipment behind the lines.
Separate the parts with a sharp modeling knife and lightly sand the marks from the sprue gates. For acrylic paints a matte base works well, with fine shading of the skin tones using a wash and a matte coat at the end. Summer clothing takes more saturated shades, which make the figures stand out pleasantly in the scene and draw the viewer's eye exactly where you want it.
