The add-on set 1:35 Italian tank M 13/40 refines a model of the Italian Carro Armato M13/40 medium tank, which bore the main burden of the fighting in North Africa. Intended for the Italeri kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is an accessory to a finished kit of the Italian medium tank and deals above all with the elements where plastic looks too massive. The vehicle itself is not in the delivery; it assumes that you obtain the kit separately. The set is designed for the Italeri kit.
The M13/40 was the main medium tank of the Italian army at the start of the war. Rivets held the hull together, which made manufacture easier, but on a hit the rivets came loose into the fighting compartment. The armament was a 47 mm gun with a barrel 32 calibers long, and a diesel engine provided the power, an unusual choice for its day that reduced the risk of fire. In the desert the type suffered from dust and weak armor, and at Beda Fomm the British captured a large number of them. Even so, the M13/40 and its derivatives appeared on the battlefields until the Italian capitulation, and the Wehrmacht then took some of the machines over.
A riveted surface will take fairly hard edge highlighting, but take care not to flood the rivets themselves in the process. The metal elements seat better when you degrease the glued area on the model in advance as well. The sand camouflage of Italian vehicles tended to be applied in the field, so irregular edges are historically in order.
The tools, the paints and the kit itself are sold separately.
