About product

Quinta Studio — the 3D-printed colored interior for the JGSDF Mitsubishi Type 73 Shin (1:35, for the Trumpeter kit)

This is not a model but a detail interior set from Quinta Studio meant for building the kit of the Japanese Mitsubishi Type 73 Shin light off-road vehicle in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. It brings a pre-painted instrument panel, consoles, seats and further elements of the cab on backing decal paper, with resin parts added. You have to own the base kit separately — the set is cut precisely for the Trumpeter parts and will not fit another kit.

How the Quinta 3D interior works

It is a step beyond both a flat decal and photo-etched parts. The parts are 3D-printed and colored as they come, and they sit on backing decal paper. You apply them like a decal, but they have real three-dimensional 3D relief — the instruments, the dials, the levers and the texture of the seats therefore look deep and photorealistic, with no need for painting. The resin parts included complete the fully three-dimensional elements of the cab.

The real subject

The Mitsubishi Type 73 Shin is a light off-road vehicle of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF). The designation Shin means the new, second generation of the Type 73, which replaced the older form and entered service in the middle of the 1990s. It is a robust light utility vehicle with all-wheel drive, a counterpart of Western vehicles in the light military off-road category, used to carry personnel and light loads.

Use and compatibility

  • Intended exclusively for the Mitsubishi Type 73 Shin kit from Trumpeter in 1:35 scale.
  • The parts on backing decal paper are applied like a decal — after a brief dip in lukewarm water they slide off the paper onto a gloss-painted surface, which holds them; they have no adhesive layer of their own.
  • The resin parts are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate); wash any uncured resin residue off before bonding.
  • Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution at all — their chemicals attack the printed resin and ruin the 3D element.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of military models who want a photorealistic cab without laborious painting.
  • Anyone interested in modern Japanese military vehicles (JGSDF).
  • Modelers looking for three-dimensional detail beyond flat decals and photo-etched parts.

This is an add-on detail set, not a model. The base Mitsubishi Type 73 Shin kit from Trumpeter, glue and paints are not included in the package.
