This injection-molded plastic kit from Trumpeter captures the Japanese Type 75 self-propelled howitzer of 155 mm caliber in 1:35 scale. The model reproduces the tracked chassis, the rotating turret with the barrel and the details of the hull, and it is intended to be glued and painted.

The real subject

The Type 75 is a Japanese tracked self-propelled howitzer of 155 mm caliber introduced into the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) in the middle of the 1970s. The gun is mounted in a rotating turret on a tracked chassis, which ensures good mobility and quick fire support. The vehicle served as the main self-propelled artillery of the Japanese forces for several decades.

Building and painting tips

Use liquid cement on the plastic. Finish and paint the running gear and the tracks before you close up the hull. We recommend a primer coat, an airbrush for the base shade and washes with pigments to bring out the detail and add mud effects on the underside of the vehicle. Fit the fine parts at the end of the build.
