A sheet for imitating zimmerit on a model of the German King Tiger heavy tank in 1:35 scale. It replaces the laborious pressing of a pattern into putty.
Responsibility details are not available.
Zimmerit is one of the things everyone notices at first glance on a model of a German heavy tank, and at the same time it is the hardest thing to do by hand. This sheet in 1:35 scale offers a ready-made pattern that is transferred onto the surface of the model in one piece, so the pressing of a texture into soft putty falls away, and with it the risk that the pattern will run off in the middle of a surface.
Zimmerit was a paste-like material that the German army applied to combat vehicles in the last part of the Second World War, so that magnetic adhesive mines would not hold on them. A regular pattern was pressed into the layer while it was still soft, and that pattern is characteristic of these vehicles today. The King Tiger was a heavy tank, and the surfaces of its hull are large and flat, so a pattern shows to advantage on them.
Before you wet the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is a self-adhesive version. A self-adhesive film that has been wetted is ruined beyond recovery, whereas a wet decal can be soaked later. With an ordinary wet version, proceed as follows: smooth, wash and degrease the surface of the model, cut the piece out, soak it briefly in lukewarm water and let it stand until the backing releases. Then move it into place, press the water and any air bubbles out from under it and draw it down to the edges and transitions with a softener. Let it dry thoroughly and only then paint.
Before applying it, hold the sheet up to the model and compare the dimensions of the surfaces. The model, paints, varnish and softener are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
